| Kulu Guskham CC Meeting Held |
 Central Committee Meeting is going on Click to Enlarge A Central Committee of Kirat Kulu Guskham (Association of Nepal Kirat Kulung Language and Cultural Development) under the chairmanship of Chandra Singh Kulung was held in Ilam on 29 & 30 June 2009. The meeting made the following decisions:
01. Approved the decisions made by the Secretariate. The Secretariate had made the following the decision to conduct the following activities;
- Training on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Biodiversity and other rithts mentioned in ILO Convention 169 that have already been launched in Sankhuwasabha and yet to be launched in Solukhumbu and Jhapa.
- Equipment purchased such as -Computers, Printer, Scanner, UPS, ADSL-Modem, Bicycle, Computer Table, Transceds 500GP HD.
- Expenses related with releasing "Kuluchim Ridhum Hodum' book.
- Grants NRs.5,000 for Chulachuli VDC Unit Guskham to open bank account and meeting stationeries and miscellenous expenses for priliminary work of organizing meeting etc.
02. To support for conducting the National Convention of Kulung Students' Union to be held in Sankhuwasabha on 15-16 Poush, 2066BS by conducting the Central Committee's Meeting as well on that time.
03. To play a coordinative role to enerzige the Federation of Kirat Associatons to strengthening the Kiraties network towards achieving the enlistment process as indigenous peoples by the State.
On the meeting the President, Chandra Singh Lowatti, Vice Presidents- Dilipsingh Chhapdulu and Daulat Pidisai, General Secretary - Indra Honittee and the Members - Pradeep Hongelu, Bhim Thimra, Saraju Rinho, Ratna Tomochha and Advisor Mrs. Kanchan Tomochha. On the meeting other invitees - Uday Honnittee, Tika Kulung, Subas Kulung, Bhumika Harimbu, Mohan Rinho, Yemkumari Honitti were present. |

| Kulung with Cultural Identity |
 Kulung Artists are performing Tosh Shil Click to Enlarge 28 May 2009, Exhibition Road, Kathmandu.
Nepal Kirat Kulung Bhasa Sanskriti Utthan Sangh (NKKBSUS) demonstrated their cultural distinctness on the occasion of 3rd Nepal International Indigenous Film Festival commenced on 28th May 2009 in the complex of City Hall of Kathmandu, Nepal. The demonstration was focussed on specific of Tos Mop Shil that referse to the worshipping of their traditional land Mahakulung. On the occasion the artists also tactfully expressed the issues of excluded indigenous nationalities along with the issues of Kulung's recognition as indigenous peoples with the help of different slogans. The slogans were such as - "The Kulung Language and Kulung Culture are the assets of the whole nation", "Our Mission is to be recognized as Indigneous Peoples", "Enlist all the excluded indigenous naionalities and write them in the New Constitution" " Successful of Indigenous Film Festival is the feeling of indigenous pride". |

| Interaction Held Between High Level Task Force and IPs |

Nepal Kirat Kulung Bhasa Sanskriti Utthan Sangh(NKKBSUS) has organized a ntional seminar cum interaction porgramme on the issues of enlistment oriented indigenous peoples today on 18th May 2009 in Kathmandu. The programme was organized to interact between the High Level Task Force formed for Reviewing the List of Indigenous Nationalities and with the stakeholders including the representatives of the Focal Point/Person of all the ministries of Nepal government. The programme was conducted under the project of "Advocacy for Rights to Self-identity of Kirat Kulung Community in Nepal" supported by Netherlands Centre for Indigenous Peoples (NCIV).

 Participants after being made aware about Indigenous Human Rights Click to Enlarge Awareness about ILO 169 and UNDRIP in Remote places of Sankhuwasabha
Nepal Kirat Kulung Bhasa Sanskriti Utthan Sangh (Association of Nepal Kirat Kulung Language and Cultural Development-ANKKLACD) has just organized awareness programme about the rights of the indigenous Kulung peoples commenced on 26-29 April 2009. The rights to land, forest, natural resources and rights to self-identity and rights to self-determination including Free Prior Informed Consent (FPIC) were discussed among the Kulung community in Bala, Tamku and Mangtewa Village Deveopment Committees in Sankuwasabha district.
The programme was jointly facilitated by Mr. Narendra Kulung, the Secretary of Kulung Cultural Department and Mr. Dilipsingh Chhapdulu Kulung, the Vice-president of ANKKLACD.
In the programme the manual of International Labour Organizations Convention NO. 169 and the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP) were referred as the key instruments for the advocating the rights of indigenous peoples around the world. |

| Kuluchim Ridum Hodum Released |
 Kanchan Tomochha, Sharada Nepal on releasing the Book Click to Enlarge Kuluchim Ridum Hodum was released by Ms. Sharada Nepal, Office in-charge of Women Development, Ilam on 15th Asar 2066BS(29th June 2009). On the occasion she expressed that the book has added value in recognition of Kulung community at the time of restructuring the state. She was not aware before that Kulung has also its own language, culture and social structure as others have. Government has also made favourable policy towards protection of cultural diversity and protection of such intangible heritages in the country. She applauded to the endeavour of Kulu Guskham that brought out the book for general peoples |

| Central Committee Meeting Held |
 C.S.Kulung discussion with CC Members Click to Enlarge The second meeting of Central Executive Committee after the 2nd National Integrated General Convention was held on 20th Chaitra 2065 in Dudhe, Jhapa. The meeting decided to organize a National Workshop on the Issue of Enlistment oriented indigenous peoples embrassing the issues of Kulung community as well with the participation of representatives of the District Committee. The meeting also decided to publish a Ridum Hodum for introducing the tradition and culture of Kulung community to those who are not aware about the Kulung culture and rites as well as to be known by other communities. It was also decided to endorse the submission made by the Chairperson Mr. Chandra Singh Kulung to the Constituent Assembly including the issues of recognition as Kulung indigenous peoples and to be enlisted in the Constitution with an autonomy region of Mahakulung to be declared for the 16 VDCs that fall in three districts - Solukhumbu, Sankhuwasabha and Bhojpur. |
